We challenged the children to cover their eyes and only use their senses of smell, taste, and touch. The ingredients that they were presented with were: a lemon, an orange, green apple, chocolate shavings, marshmallows and cinnamon. They enjoyed the mystery of the ingredients, but could not keep the blind folds on for a long time! So much fun. We will be doing this again soon.

H is for HAT, HOUSE and a HEADBAND WITH HEARTS.... WE HAVE NOW BEGUN TO INCOPORATE A LETTER OF THE ALPHABET TO OUR WEEKLY CURRICULUM. ONE OF THE LETTERS FOR THIS WEEK IS Hh. WE ARE USING BOOKS, PROPS, AND LOTS OF OTHER MEDIUMS LIKE ART TO EXPOSE THE CHILDREN TO AS MUCH (H) WORDS AS POSSIBLE.
SINCE OUR THEME THIS WEEK IS OUR FIVE SENSES, WE THOUGHT IT WOULD BE A GREAT OPPORTUNITY TO TALK TO THE CHILDREN ABOUT THE FEELINGS WE FEEL IN OUR HEARTS: EMOTIONAL FEELINGS LIKE SADNESS, HAPPINESS, OR ANGER.
OVLIVER THE DOG PUPPET HAS BEEN INSTRUMENTAL FOR THIS PROJECT. HE HAS A SPECIAL HEART THAT IS A POCKET WHERE THE CHILDREN CAN PUT NOTES IN TO SHARE WHAT THEY ARE FEELING WITH HIM. OLIVER DOES NOT TALK WITH ANY OTHER CHILDREN ABOUT SOMEONE'S FEELINGS. HE ONLY SHARES WITH THE TEACHER SO YOUR FEELINGS ARE KEPT SAFE. THE CHILDREN SEEM TO LIKE OLIVER ALOT AND HE ENJOYS THEIR COMPANY DURING THE DAY.
